Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is currently busy promoting his upcoming film ‘Kesari 2’. This Film is based on Indian history. In a significant move to take the historic theme to a wider audience, Akshay Kumar on Tuesday visited the Delhi Secretariat and met Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Akshay met CM Rekha Gupta
Akshay Kumar met CM Rekha Gupta for a special purpose. He requested Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to make his upcoming film ‘Kesari 2’ tax-free in the national capital so that it could be watched by more people, especially the youth and students. The actor believes the film tells a story that every Indian should know.
About Kesari 2
Kesari 2 is based on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film focuses on the struggle of C. Sankaran Nair, a renowned lawyer who fought a legal battle against British rule. Akshay Kumar plays the lead role in the film.
Why does Akshay Kumar want Kesari 2 tax-free?
Akshay Kumar made it clear to the Chief Minister that if the film is tax-free, it will become more accessible, especially to students and people from lower income groups. He said that this is not just entertainment but an inspiring story of patriotism, struggle and justice, which everyone should watch.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta appreciated the initiative taken by Akshay Kumar. He said that cinema is a mirror of the society and if a film is doing the work of public awareness, then it is the duty of the government to support it. He also assured that the government will thoroughly study the content of the film and its impact and an appropriate decision will be taken.

The film is based on the book titled ‘The Case That Shook The Empire’, which unravels the story of the events after Jallianwala Bagh and the legal resistance against the British Empire.
This initiative of Akshay Kumar is a commendable step, which proves that cinema is not only limited to entertainment, but it can also become a medium of history, education and social consciousness. Now it will be interesting to see if the decision to make ‘Kesari 2’ tax-free is taken and if the film succeeds in its objective.
