The Ambrosia Theatre Group’s play “Hamesha Der Kar Deta Hoon” (I Always Delay) delivers a powerful message of peace & Patriotism, set against the turbulent backdrop of contemporary Kashmir. This thought-provoking production challenges the ideology of terrorism and celebrates humanity.
The Title ‘Humesha der kar deta hun’, inspired by Munir Niazi’s poem, tells the story of Afreen, a Kashmiri girl who embodies hope and compassion. When three young terrorists take her hostage on Menhdi night prior to her wedding, the stage is set for an intense ideological confrontation. Through Afreen’s courageous challenge to the terrorists’ radical beliefs, the play prompts reflection on the futility of violence and the transformative power of love.
The limited setting of Afreen’s home adds emotional depth, making the audience witness to a personal and universal struggle. The music, a blend of traditional Kashmiri tunes and contemporary colors, enhances the emotional impact. The performances are outstanding, with Darshana Khandelwal shining as Afreen, a symbol of peace and humanity.
