Famous tabla player Zakir Hussain, one of India’s most famous classical musicians, has died at the age of 73. He was admitted to a hospital in San Francisco, USA due to heart problems. He was hospitalized for the last two weeks. He was admitted to the ICU when his condition worsened. He also had blood pressure problems. The family confirmed his death. However, earlier the family had denied the news of his death. According to the information received, he died early Monday morning due to complications caused by idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Condoling the death of Hussain, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that “The news of the death of renowned tabla player Padma Bhushan Ustad Zakir Hussain is heart-breaking. Zakir Hussain was known as India’s most famous tabla player, was a man of versatile personality.” Pawar said that “He established the Indian musical instrument tabla on the world stage… a great personality of the art world passed away today.”
