Junaid Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, is all set to make his highly anticipated acting debut with the film “Maharaj.” Produced by Yash Raj Films, “Maharaj” will premiere on Netflix on June 14, with the trailer dropping on June 5. The film, which wrapped up filming last October, also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and Sharvari Wagh in pivotal roles.
“Maharaj” is inspired by the 1862 Maharaja Libel Case, which revolves around a religious leader who sued a newspaper for alleging inappropriate relationships with his female followers. Junaid portrays a journalist in this intriguing narrative. Shalini Pandey, in an interview with News18, described Junaid as a “very easy breezy human being” and a great co-actor. She shared that both of them had a similar energy on set, making the experience enjoyable.
Beyond “Maharaj,” Junaid has already completed shooting his second film, directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, with Sai Pallavi. This project, produced by Aamir Khan, saw the team braving challenging weather conditions to shoot at the Sapporo Snow Festival in Japan. The crew worked 12-14 hours daily to stay on schedule, with Aamir Khan staying in close touch with the production team to ensure everything went smoothly.
Currently, Junaid is gearing up for his third film, a remake of the Tamil romantic comedy “Love Today” (2022), co-starring Khushi Kapoor. Filming has begun in Mumbai, with primary locations including the banquet hall of Seven Eleven Club in Mira Road. Due to Junaid’s promotional commitments for “Maharaj,” director Chandan has scheduled the shoot to wrap up outdoor scenes before Mumbai’s rainy season kicks in.
Junaid, the eldest son of Aamir Khan and his first wife, Reena Dutta, is clearly making significant strides in Bollywood. His sister Ira Khan and half-brother Azad Rao Khan, from Aamir’s second marriage to Kiran Rao, also have reasons to be proud of his burgeoning career.
The excitement surrounding Junaid’s debut is palpable, with moviegoers eagerly awaiting his performance in “Maharaj.” His dedication and the solid backing of his father, Aamir Khan, indicate a promising future in the industry. As Junaid prepares to step into the limelight, the anticipation continues to build, marking the arrival of a new star in Bollywood.
