With the rising glory the Jigra movie for hitting the big screen lands on several controversies. The Manipur Actor and winner of the Prag Cine Award states that he has been the victim of unequal treatment from the Jigra cast.
He states the hierarchy of B-town affects the growth of marginal artists. It’s not only the Mumbaikers who own the industry. The contribution has been equal but the gestures are not. Stating the discrimination, Bijou Thaangjam says he does not want to accuse the “Jigra” cast or production but wants to speak about the Bollywood industry as a whole.
The B-town industry has been a victim of several accusations over repo kids getting easy fame and roles. Bollywood actress Rakul Preet in one of her interviews says that it is not always nepotism that works but favoritism. Big roles on the big screen are often decided at parties or family functions.
Now with Alia Bhatt starrer movie “Jigra” the Northeastern actor is blaming the misleading and antiempathetic behavior towards the marginal artist. He states the Jigra team booked him for December without giving him any shooting schedule. I have to cancel all my plans just to wait for my call from the Jigra team. This came as a frustrating wait for Bijou Thaangjam.
Bijou Thaangjam also added that he doesn’t want easy fame through the veneer of Jigra controversies. He does not want any limelight from his circumstances but he is concerned about the marginal artists who want to work in the big production houses.
The misleading behavior has caused many to raise and support Bijou Thaangjam. Bollywood Town has been accused of discriminating against the artist for their hierarchy, connection, and family. Many actors state that this discrimination against artists over family hierarchy is affecting the quality of Bollywood production. In recent years major flops have landed on the Big Screen. The artists of quality are switching to OTT platforms with better plots and stories.

Bijou Thaangjam being an actor from marginal India raises the voice of fellow marginal artists all over India. He had to work the extra mile to get there where someone doesn’t even have to walk any mile all his or her life. The concern of Bijou Thaangjam is just, and so is his rising voice.
