Indian 2: Kamal Haasan Shines, Film Divides Critics

Delhi New Zealand: The much anticipated follow-up to the 1996 cult vigilante movie “Indian,” “Indian 2,” has at last opened the theatres. Under Shankar’s direction and starring Kamal Haasan, the movie has elicited a range of conflicting responses from both reviewers and viewers.

Early spectators of the movie have voiced their displeasure on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. #Indian2 – Underwhelming Performances, one user said. Not even gifted #KamalHaasan can salvage this sinking ship. His character lacks the depth and nuance that made him a legend, hence it seems like a rerun of his former parts. The supporting cast does not leave any impression or performs no better.

Another person expressed their dismay, saying, “This movie is a total failure except for the grandeur in every frame. Though the concluding pictures gave some hope, it felt more like a 2.58-hour precursor to #Indian3, something I personally do not want to happen. Technical features of the movie were also under scrutiny; one tweet said, “Shankar had no notion what to do with this grand-scale production. noisy BGM, horrible music. Teams in editing, makeup, and writing should be sacked right away. Kamal Haasan was fine, but his get-up—makeup—looks ridiculous. Climax and interval block were good.

Some fans harboured hope for the following installment, “Indian 3,” which is scheduled for release next year despite the unfavourable comments. One enthusiastic supporter said, “Hope #Indian3 will be the solution. #Kamal Haasan Sir worked hard to produce a nice one. # Siddharth performed his work flawlessly. Comedies are akin to just drizzles. #ComeBack Indian needs a great comeback.

Public Comments Emphasise Mixed Reactions.

Early audiences of Shankar’s “Indian 2,” directed by Kamal Haasan, have mixed feelings about it. Although some praised Haasan’s acting and the movie’s approach of social concerns, others said the movie was boring and repetitious.

“Kamal Haasan’s return of the legendary part is nothing short of amazing,” one observer said, “delivering a stunning performance that anchors the emotional centre of the movie. Mirroring the original’s emphasis on justice and responsibility, the sequel’s storyline explores pertinent social concerns.

Still, not all comments came back favourably. “I am so disappointed in Shankar, Kamal, and Siddharth,” a disgruntled admirer remarked. I want to accuse the producer of attempting two part release of this. Thinking the producer and director could believe people would view such a poor, badly edited, repeated movie makes me feel deceived and humiliated. I love Kamal; he shouldn’t have accepted to this movie under any conditions.

The technical quality of the movie failed several viewers, who said, ” Seriously, can’t believe it’s a Shankar movie, but yes, after seeing the stereotypes, agreed.” Not clear why Mr. Kamal consented to do this. Agreed corruption; reform has to come within; but, come on, too dragging with the same formula, the climax chase, in these day and age, cannot believe it had to be dragged.

Notwithstanding the criticism, aspects of the movie—including the CGI and background music—were well-received. Furthermore highly regarded was Kamal Haasan’s performance; one observer said, “Kamal sir, he’s always the king of acting, a legend,” while another said, “At this age, the kind of action he’s done is praiseworthy.”

Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Bhavani Shankar round “Indian 2” with an ensemble cast. Anirudh Ravichander wrote the music for the movie, which Lyca Productions produced; it was released in Hindi and Telugu as “Hindustani 2” and “Bharateeyudu 2,” respectively.
