Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap Is Angry With Hindi Film Industry,  He Has Decided To Leave Mumbai Told To Hollywood Reporter India

Anurag Kashyap

Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who is known for films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Dev D’ and ‘Gulaal’, recently made a shocking announcement. Anurag has revealed that he has decided to leave Mumbai. This news shocked the fans. In a recent interview, he spoke about the reasons behind the decision and her displeasure with the Bollywood industry.

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter India, Anurag Kashyap said that he will leave Mumbai by the end of 2025 and shift to South India. He blamed the thinking of the Hindi film industry and talent agencies for this. Anurag says that these agencies have created a wrong trend for new artists. Instead of grooming the art of artists, it focuses only on making them stars. If an actor doesn’t work according to them, they are left behind.

The joy of filmmaking is over

“Today, I can’t think of making different kind of films or experimenting. Now it all comes down to money. My producers only talk about profits and margins. Even before the film begins, discussions begin on how it will be sold. In such a situation, the fun of filmmaking has ended.”

“I now want to go where people are excited about work. I am tired of living in Mumbai. If I don’t take this step, I will die like an old man.”

Bollywood obsession with remakes

Anurag Kashyap expressed his displeasure over the industry’s thinking to focus on remakes. “Today, you can’t even think of making films like Manjummel Boys because everyone is busy remaking old hits. I am not ready to take any new risks.”

“The focus of today’s generation is only on becoming a star, not on acting. Agencies mislead actors in the name of making them stars. When they become stars, they indulge in looting money from them. Whereas the real job should be to find new and talented actors.”

Focus more on glamour

Anurag Kashyap openly expressed his displeasure over talent agencies. “When an actor comes, instead of sending him to an acting workshop, he is sent to the gym. Everything is now focused on glamour and show-offs. An actor, who had signed my film, left the film at the behest of some agency. Later he came back, because he was cheated by that agency.”

Anuraag’s Southward Approach

Anurag Kashyap is now preparing to make a new beginning in South India. They believe that there is more freedom and enthusiasm to work there. It will be interesting to see what kind of projects he takes up apart from Bollywood.
