- Hema Malini started her career when she was 16 years old. She signed her first movie in the Tamil language Sathyiam (1963).
- Hema Malini started her Hindi film career with Sapno Ka Saudagar directed by Raj Kapoor. She was only 20 years old when she performed in a lead female role opposite Raj Kapoor.
- Her first Hindi film breakthrough was Jonney Mera Naam (1970). After this, she got millions of calls from every film director. Her beauty and talent went Nationwide and called the dream girl of Bollywood.
- She was among the few actresses who started the trend of bell-bottoms.
- She was the daughter of Jaylaxmi Chravartu who wanted to become a classical Bharatanatyam dancer. Although for some reason she couldn’t pursue her dream. Hema Malini was able to fulfill her mother’s dream. She was well-trained in Bharatnatyam, Odyssey, and Kuchipudi. Her marvelous talent in dance took her to many stage shows in foreign countries.
- Hema Malini was Satyam Shivam Sundaram’s first choice. Hema Malini denied the movie as the movie required too much revelation of the body. Later she was replaced by Zeenat Aman in the movie.
- Hema Malini has completed over 100 projects in the film industry. She has also directed Shah Rukh Khan’s first movie Dil Aashna Hai (1992) which was released after Deewana.
- Hema Malini has mentioned in her autobiography that she was approached by two prominent actors of her era, Jitendra and Sanjeev Kumar. And she was continuously forced to settle down with Jitendra. The dates were fixed but somehow Hema Ji’s love for Dharmendra was unbreakable. And ultimately she married Dharmendra and had two daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
- Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s love affair started on the set of Sholay. Initially, the role of Jai was offered to Dharmendra but he denied the role to work opposite of Hema Malini. And Jai’s role was later offered to Amitabh Bachchan.
- Hema Malini started her political career in 2003. She was elected a member of the Rajya Sabha. She is still a prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Her fame in the film industry has helped to approach the citizens easily. People are fond of her as an actor and politician.
