Mumbai: Taapsee Pannu, a well-known personality in Indian cinema, revealed in a recent interview that her similarity to actress Preity Zinta played an important role in her first foray into Bollywood. Pannu spoke on cricketer Shikhar Dhawan’s chat show ‘Dhawan Karenge’ about how similarities to Zinta opened doors for her in the film industry.
Pannu revealed that she received offer credits for her Tamil films because of her strong resemblance to Zinta, which industry insiders saw as a potential characteristic. Pannu reflected on this, saying, “Ma people thought I was a new Preity Zinta.” That was why I received offers in Bollywood.” Admiring Zinta from afar through the media, Pannu recognized the actress’s powerful presence and wonderful spirit.
Pannu made her memorable Hindi debut with ‘Chashme Baddoor’ after leaving regional cinema, followed by lauded performances in films such as ‘Pink’, ‘Manmarziyan’, ‘Thappad’, and ‘Mission Mangal’. Her latest appearance in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’ starring Shah Rukh Khan strengthened her position in Bollywood.
Pannu is preparing for ‘Khel Khel Mein’, helmed by Mudassar Aziz, in which she will co-star with Akshay Kumar and Vaani Kapoor, demonstrating her continued importance in the industry.
