June 12, (ANI) Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: Actor Salman Khan and his brother Arbaaz Khan have lately provided statements to the Mumbai Crime Branch about the April gunshot incident that happened outside their Bandra apartment complex, Galaxy Apartments.
Salman’s testimony was recorded over a four-hour session, while Arbaaz’s took longer than two hours, according to a Mumbai Police spokesman. Salman recapped the evening’s events, adding that he went to bed late because he was at home for a party. Hours later, the sound of gunfire woke him up. The actor thanked the Mumbai Police for their thorough inquiry and underlined how serious the matter was.
Two males riding motorcycles opened fire outside the Galaxy Apartments on April 14, causing an incident. The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) was invoked by the Mumbai Police against all parties involved following investigations that connected the crime to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Subsequent inquiries disclosed that Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, was instrumental in planning the assault. On March 15, 2024, after obtaining firearms in Panvel, Anmol gave the gunmen Salman’s information and gave them the go-ahead to execute the attack. The gunmen received payment of Rs 3 lakh for their services.
In response, the family released a statement through Arbaaz Khan, who called the incident “disturbing and unnerving.” He restated that no family member had gone to the media and denounced the untrue allegations making the rounds in the media that the incident was a publicity stunt. Arbaaz stressed that the family trusted the police to protect them and that they were fully cooperating with them.
A four-person criminal branch team went to Galaxy Apartments on June 4 in order to get the boys’ statements. About 150 questions were posed to Salman and Arbaaz by officials throughout the sessions. Salman, who was at home at the time, claimed to have woken up to the sound of a gunshot striking the balcony of his apartment. Because Arbaaz knew about prior threats from the Bishnoi gang, he was also questioned while he was at his Juhu apartment.
Six people have been taken into custody by the police in relation to the April 14 firing, including the alleged shooters, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal. Anuj Thapan, one of the people detained, is said to have killed himself on May 1 while in police custody. Five people, including members of the Bishnoi and Goldier Brar gangs, were recently detained by Navi Mumbai Police for allegedly preparing a second attack on Salman Khan. These gang members had scouted Khan’s homes in Bandra, his Panvel farmhouse, and the locations of his film shoots.
For a different offense, Lawrence Bishnoi is presently incarcerated at Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s Sabarmati Central Prison. His custody would be sought by Mumbai police so they can look into the shooting incident more thoroughly. Anmol Bishnoi is still a wanted suspect in the case; he is thought to be in Canada.
This event serves as a reminder of the constant threats that Salman Khan faces and the Mumbai Police’s unwavering attempts to protect the actor and his family while apprehending those responsible.
