Legendary Bollywood Actor Manoj Kumar Dies At 87

Today is a very sad day for the Indian film industry. Veteran actor and director Manoj Kumar passed away at the age of 87 at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Friday morning. He breathed his last at 3:30 am. The actor, who had been struggling with health problems for a long time, was undergoing treatment, but today he said goodbye to this world forever. The news of his death has left not only his family but the entire country in shock.

Manoj Kumar was known for his patriotism.

Manoj Kumar was also known as’ Bharat Kumar ‘in India. He gave a new height to the spirit of patriotism in Indian cinema through films. Through films like ‘Upkar’, ‘Purab Aur Paschim’, ‘Kranti’, ‘Roti Kapda Aur Makaan’, he brought alive the spirit of patriotism, social issues and common man on the big screen.

Manoj Kumar’s personal life was no less than a film story. He met his wife Shashi Goswami during his college days. Manoj Kumar himself had told in an old interview that he had seen Shashi for the first time while studying near his friend’s house in Old Delhi. For a year and a half, they just stared at each other from a distance.

Manoj Kumar used to go to the terrace of his college to see Shashi and Shashi used to come to his terrace and see him. At that time, such love was courageous and innocent. Later, the couple got married and their son Kunal Goswami also tried his hand at film direction, though he did not get much success.
