Mumbai Police Denies Samay Raina’s Request To Record Statement On Video

The controversy started with an objectionable comment made by Ranvir Allahbadia in one of the episodes of the show, due to which the show and the host of the show are getting trolled. India’s Got Latent is a dark comedy show hosted by Samay Raina. The show features various YouTubers and social media influencers, where they discuss various topics. In a recent episode, Ranveer Allahbadia asked an objectionable question to a contestant about her parents, which sparked outrage among the viewers. After this incident, many complaints have been filed against the host of the show Samay Raina and other participants.

Legal action and police investigation

Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against the organisers of the show including Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Ashish Chanchlani and Jaspreet Singh. They have been charged with promoting obscenity and outraging public decency. Mumbai Police has started investigating the case. Apoorva Makhija has recorded her statement at Khar police station while Samay Raina is currently out of the country. Ranvir Allahbadia is also expected to record his statement soon.

Removal of the show’s episodes

Following the controversy, the Maharashtra Cyber Police has written to YouTube to remove all episodes of India’s Got Latent from the platform. The host of the show, Samay Raina, has removed all the episodes from his YouTube channel. He wrote on his social media account, “Whatever is happening, it is becoming extremely difficult for me to handle it. I have removed all the videos of ‘India’s Got Latent’ from my channel. My only aim was to make people laugh and have a good time. “

The controversy has also affected Samay Raina’s upcoming show. His four shows in Gujarat, which were scheduled for April, have been cancelled. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has claimed that the shows have been cancelled following public outrage over the lewd comments made in ‘India’s Got Latent’. Tickets for these shows have also been removed from the booking platform. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also promised strict action in the matter. “Such incidents will be taken seriously and appropriate action will be taken against the culprits,” he said.

Call for judicial intervention

Ranvir Allahbadia has approached the Supreme Court seeking relief from multiple FIRs registered against him. He has filed a petition seeking clubbing of these cases and seeking anticipatory bail. The India’s Got Latent controversy has sent out an important message to YouTube content creators and social media influencers that there is responsibility for comments made on public forums.
