Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan and Ananya Panday starrer Kesari Chapter 2 has hit the theatres. The story of the film is about a man named Sir C Sankaran Nair, who, despite being part of the British power, sounded the legal bugle against its injustice. The film stars Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, Mouni Roy, Amit Sial and Ananya Panday in pivotal roles.
The story of the film begins with the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on 13 April 1919. The shooting of innocent people on the orders of General Dyer and then the conspiracies of the British government to cover it up – everything is heartbreaking. The British government sets up a commission of inquiry to look into the incident, with Sir Sankaran Nair as the only Indian member. The British expect him to act at their behest, but Nair’s conscience forces him to rebel.
Nair’s life takes a turn when he meets a young revolutionary named Pargat Singh, whose story shocks him to the core. Later, a conversation with Dilreet Gill (Ananya Panday) changes Naira’s way of thinking. A fierce court battle ensues, where Nair brings the English officer, General Dyer, to justice. In the courtroom drama, R Madhavan makes a powerful appearance as Neville McKinley.
The film is based on the book ‘The Case That Shook the Empire’, but it combines the facts of history with theatricality and emotion. Director Karan Singh Tyagi’s direction is simple, effective and clear. The scenes of carnage in the cinematography have been depicted with utmost precision. While the background score elevates the emotional quotient of the film, songs like ‘Teri Mitti’, ‘Kitthe Gaya Tu Saiyaan’ and ‘Shera’ delve deep into the soul of the film.

Akshay Kumar’s performance is stronger than ever. His dialogue delivery and emotional delivery keep the audience hooked. Ananya Panday has played the serious character beautifully and has proved that she is not just limited to glamour. On the other hand, R Madhavan’s performance gives a new dimension to the film after the interval.
