OTT platform Netflix has once again come up with a new film based on the romance of a youngster. ‘Nadaaniyan’ is not only a romantic-comedy, but it also highlights the aspects of relationships, social media influence and self-discovery of today’s generation. Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, the film stars Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan and Sridevi’s daughter Khushi Kapoor in lead roles. This is Ibrahim’s debut film, while Khushi Kapoor is doing her second film with Netflix. The film is a perfect blend of romance, comedy and youthful entanglements.
Nadaaniyan Story
The story of ‘Nadaaniyaan‘ showcases the complexities of youth growing up in the modern digital era. Pia Jaisingh (Khushi Kapoor) is a social media star whose life revolves around trying to look perfect. She is surrounded by self-doubt and tries to get the approval of others all the time. Arjun Mehta (Ibrahim Ali Khan) is a simple but self-sufficient boy who dreams of becoming a lawyer. He is not impressed by Pia’s dazzling world.
The story of the film takes an interesting turn when Pia and Arjun meet. Their thinking, habits and approach to life are completely different from each other, but gradually a special relationship develops between them. There are ups and downs in the relationship, there are misunderstandings, and ultimately the journey leads to self-discovery.
Performances by artists
Ibrahim Ali Khan has shown great confidence in his very first role. As Arjun, he looks effortless and there is a natural charm in his performance. Her dance moves and screen presence are also commendable. Khushi Kapoor has maintained the right balance of style and naturalness in the character of Piya. Her character is not just limited to a glamorous girl, but there is also depth in it.
Suniel Shetty and Mahima Chaudhry play Pia’s parents in the film, while Dia Mirza and Jugal Hansraj add warmth to the film as Arjun’s family. Content creators Apurva Mukhija and Agastya Shah also make a good impression in the supporting cast.
Direction and presentation
Director Shauna Gautam has tried to understand the mindset of the youth and the complexities of relationships in this film. The film’s cinematography is captivating, bringing alive the modern urban lifestyle. The pace of the story is good, although some of the subplots seem incomplete.
Music is the soul of the film. The romantic and feel-good tracks add more depth to the emotions of the film. The background score is light and impressive, which keeps the tone of the film right.
